Surge in home remodeling as economy improves

As the economy grows and interest rates remain low, The Boston Globe reports that home improvement companies across Massachusetts are rebounding. With homeowners more confident to raze walls, add rooms and build decks, figures compiled by the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University show spending on home remodeling is on track to beat the 2006 peak of $145 billion.
