Housing starts surge; suppliers benefit
Government data shows that housing starts in July were up nearly 16 percent over June, and almost 22 percent over last year. Similarly, home improvement retail giant Home Depot reported a surge in their second-quarter earnings. The New York Times reports that these two numbers were higher than what analysts projected, but did not project any surges in housing in the months to come.
