A house that reshapes itself for changing families

Households have a way of changing over time: elderly parents move in, couples divorce, or posting an extra room on Airbnb suddenly sounds like an interesting idea. Architects in Denmark took up the challenge to design a house to suit the changing, modern household.

The Adaptable House, developed by Henning Larsen Architects, has configurable walls that can easily and seamlessly create new rooms or combine existing ones, therefore reducing the costs and carbon footprints that come with remodeling. This house is one of six experimental single-family homes called the MiniCO2 houses.
