New-home sales are up, but modestly
MarketWatch reports that sales of new homes in September edged up 0.2 percent to an annual rate of 467,000, hitting a six-year high.
New-home sales in September were the highest since July 2008, and 17 percent higher compared to the same month in 2013, a sign of the market’s gradual improvement. The median price of new homes sold fell 4 percent from a year earlier to $259,000, the lowest since August 2013.
