Townhouses building up steam

Construction of townhouses has slowly been picking up over the last year, with the number of starts reaching 20,000 for the third quarter of 2014, a 17 percent jump annually. In total, the market share for townhouses is up to 11 percent, creeping back up to the 2008 high-water mark of 14.6 percent.

Those numbers are expected to continue climbing in the future, largely thanks to increased demand for medium-density residential neighborhoods.
