Wall Street Journal economics reporter Nick Timiraos provides clarity for those skeptical about job growth numbers: “Well, how many of those jobs are full-time? The answer is most of them.”
Using data from the Labor Department, Timiraos explains that changes in the number of part-time workers haven’t moved up or down much since the recession, while the number of full-time workers has continued to steadily increase beginning in the fall of 2011. However, Timiraos notes that “the headline numbers don’t say anything about the quality of full-time jobs created.”
