Old, Urban Forms of Inequality Are Repeating in the Suburbs

Brown University’s Project US2010 study found that “Suburban diversity does not mean that neighborhoods within suburbia are diverse,” the Washington Post reports.

The research found that communities of color are experiencing the same segregation and isolation these communities experienced in urban areas, regardless of income. “Suburban blacks who make more than $75,000 a year live in higher poverty neighborhoods than suburban whites who make less than $40,000 a year,” the research found.
