Zillow Research Finds Rent Just Keeps Getting Higher
Rents in the U.S. were up by 3.3 percent year-over-year in January. However, income growth has not kept pace with growth in rents.
“Since 2000, rents have grown at roughly twice the pace of wages,” Zillow Real Estate Research reports. “As a result, the share of income necessary to afford typical rents in an area is rising.”
