Akron Has Highest Share of Affordable Homes for Millennials

More than any generation, Millennials say they want to buy a home, Zillow Real Estate Research reports, and Akron, Ohio, has the highest share of inventory affordable to Millennials.

To measure this, Zillow looked at the average home price and average income of Millennials in a given area. Nationwide, 70 percent of homes for sale are affordable to the typical Millennial.

The lowest share of inventory affordable for Millennials, at 25 percent, is Honolulu, while 90 percent of Akron homes are affordable for this age group. Another metro area that tops the list for affordability is St. Louis, which has the highest homeownership rate among those with the lowest income.
