Regulatory Costs and Delays Can Add 40 Percent to San Diego Housing Cost

A recent study found that for new housing in the San Diego area, regulatory costs and delays can add 40 percent to the cost of building, Times of San Diego reports.

The study was conducted by Point Loma Nazarene University in response to the area’s housing shortage, especially for entry-level housing. Additionally, these extra costs are enough to price two in five San Diego families out of the housing market.
