New legislation makes it easier for homeowners in Texas to install solar panels starting Sept. 1, Dallas News reports.
The legislation bans residential developments with more than 50 houses from restricting homeowners who want to install solar panels, even while new homes are still being built.
According to the Dallas News, the legislation addresses what some say is a loophole in existing law.
A 2011 Texas law restricted homeowner associations from banning solar energy systems, “but homebuilders were still allowed to prohibit such systems in new developments that were still under construction,” the article says.
