Houston’s Housing Market Breaks Records Despite Oil Slump

Single-family home sales in Houston went up 6.7 percent from July 2014, totaling 8,147 in July, Houston Business Journal reports.

The Houston Association of Realtors said that the sales numbers represent Houston’s highest one-month sales volume ever.

Home prices for single-family houses also hit records for July in Houston. The average sales price increased 6.3 percent from July last year to $293,000, and the median sales price increased 8.6 percent to $220,000.

For inventory, Houston’s supply continued to increase, with total active listings up 12.7 percent year over year to 33,679.
