The Internet of Things: Overhyped?

According to technology research firm Gartner, society has reached “a peak of hype when it comes to the Internet of Things,” Business Insider reports.

This means that all the publicity around the concept is causing inflated expectations from the public. As Business Insider puts it, this means “you may know a handful of people who have connected door locks or air conditioners, but you probably know a lot more people who don’t.

Gartner expects that The Internet of Things won’t reach mainstream adoption for the next five to 10 years.
