A small San Francisco suburb, Lafayette, Calif., is facing heat from housing advocates that want the town to increase housing to accommodate the wave of residents moving to the Bay Area.
According to CityLab, a group called Sue the Suburbs is looking for plaintiffs to build a case. A developer has downsized a project in Lafayette that initially included 315 moderately priced apartments to 44 single-family homes that will sell for $1.2 million each.
The semi-rural town of Lafayette wants to keep its population near 24,000.
