Designer Adapts Tiny House Trend to Address Issues in Urban Infill and Affordability

According to Santa Fe, N.M.-based designer Zane Fischer, many prefabricated tiny homes on the market today are a little too “gingerbread.”

He tells Construction Dive that he, with his company Extraordinary Structures, would like to develop a system for tiny houses that produce a very contemporary product.

His company uses Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) technology, plasma cutters, and laser cutters to manufacture modular wood components. The resulting product is a thermally efficient tiny home that can be assembled rapidly.
