Congress Deal Has Tax Credits for Solar and Wind Energy

Congress reached a deal that swaps a lifting of the ban on U.S. crude oil export for a 5-year extension to the renewable energy tax credits, as TreeHugger reports.

The extension will add 39 gigawatts of clean energy that the country otherwise wouldn’t have had: allowing for an extra 20 gigawatts of solar power and 19 gigawatts of wind power.

The extensions are expected to generate more than $73 billion worth of investment, and the 39 gigawatts are enough to power eight million homes.
