A new type of Wi-Fi, called Wi-Fi HaLow, is an answer to Bluetooth and will be useful for smart homes, The Verge reports.
Wi-Fi requires a lot of power, but the new HaLow, which could become mroe commonplace in 2018, is meant to work on low-power devices.
“It'll travel farther and even do a better job of traveling through walls,” writes Jacob Kastrenakes of The Verge. “Basically, it's an all around better option for smart home and IoT devices, at least if these claims hold up.”
