Millennials Become Top Homebuying Demographic in the Country

Millennials now account for 36 percent of U.S. home purchases, making them more active on the market than Baby Boomers (34 percent).

The Dallas Morning News reports that younger Americans are working higher-paying jobs, building larger nest eggs than past generations, and buying houses in the suburbs.

Home builders still need to remember Baby Boomers, though. There are 76 million Baby Boomers in the U.S., and the over-65 population is expected to double over the next 15 years. Boomers prefer suburban neighborhoods with parks, walking trails and proximity to retail stores.
