AIA Housing Awards Recognizes The Best In Contemporary American Architecture

This week, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) named the winners of the 2017 Housing Awards, a program that recognizes the best in housing design and honors architects from across the country.

Curbed profiled the 14 winners. Projects include a low-slung suburban home in Arkansas, a double-height Northern California ranch home, a Pennsylvania farmhouse, a group of cottages in Oregon, and a residential pyramid “courtscraper” in New York City.

This snapshot of contemporary American architecture, now in its 17th year, highlights many important trends, including green building and accessible, universal design, all while showing that great architecture doesn’t always require a massive budget.
