The Best And Worst States To Earn A Living

With no state income tax and a respectable average income of $43,400, Washington is among the best states in which to make a living this year.

According to Business Insider, personal finance site MoneyRates ranked the best and worst states when it comes to making a living, based on average wages, cost of living, state tax rates, unemployment rates, and rates of workplace injuries.

Other favorable states include Texas and Wyoming, both of which have costs of living lower than the national average, and no state income tax. Central states such as Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan also made the list.

Hawaii was found to be the worst state to make a living, due to its high tax rates and substantially expensive cost of living. Other states on the negative end include California, West Virginia, Oregon, and New York.
