ConstructReach, a workforce development initiative in the construction industry, is hosting an "I Built This!" event on Oct. 17-18 in Los Angeles. The initiative aims to welcome 100 high school students to participate in hands-on activities related to various construction trades. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with industry professionals for internships, career opportunities, and scholarships, ConstructReach said in a recent press release.
The event will be held at the future headquarters of the Inner-City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles on W Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
“Our mission at ConstructReach is to increase the visibility of the construction industry by educating students about career opportunities, connecting general contractors to interns and innovative internship curriculum, and creating content, experiences, and a ConstructReach Community to expose diverse populations to construction careers,” said Paul Robinson. “Over half of the construction workforce is over the age of 46 and will be retiring. ‘I built this!’ introduces diverse students to construction opportunities to work toward changing those statistics.”
