KB Home is making solar power a standard home feature in most of its Southern California developments, according to the Associated Press.
The home builder said Monday that it now includes homes in 28 communities in Southern California now come standard with solar power –– up from 10 communities in March.
KB reported that sales at its communities featuring homes with a solar power standard have been 30 percent greater than in communities that do not offer homes with the systems included.
The strategy is part of the builder's effort to make more energy efficient homes and lure buyers away from foreclosed properties and other previously occupied homes that often sell for less.
