Johns Manville’s mineral wool, which is used in the company’s Sound & Fire Block batts and TempControl batts, has a melting point in excess of 2,000° F. Mineral wool helps delay fire spread, creates quieter homes and increases privacy between rooms, and reduces heating and cooling costs. The 3-inch-thick Sound & Fire Block is suited for use between interior walls and in ceilings and floors. TempControl is available in three thicknesses: 3½, 5½, and 7¼ inches, and is designed for use in wood-stud cavities of exterior walls, basements, and heated crawlspaces.
