Of the new single-family homes started in 2015, 27 percent have three full bathrooms, and 10 percent have four or more full bathrooms.
According to NAHB’s Eye On Housing, the U.S. Census Bureau’s Survey of Construction found that the share of homes with only two bathrooms has dropped nearly 10 percent since 2005, as more homes have three or more bathrooms. These findings jibe with the strategy builders used during the post-recession period, where they focused on larger higher-end houses.
Regionally, new houses with three or more bathrooms are most prevalent in the South Atlantic (42 percent of homes started last year), and least common in the East North Central (24 percent).
