With a roster of companies that are leaders in engineering and technology development, New Hampshire was found to be one of the most innovative states in the country.
According to Forbes, WalletHub ranked the states on how innovative they are, factoring in 18 indicators including local internet speeds, the number of STEM workers and tech companies, and research and development spending.
While not a state, Washington D.C. ranked first. It has the most STEM pros in the country, the most science and engineering graduates, and the highest amount of venture-capital funding per capita. Other highly innovative states include Maryland, Massachusetts, California, and Colorado.
West Virginia ranked last. The state has few tech companies and STEM professionals and low amounts of entrepreneurial activity and scientific knowledge output.
