Women make up just over 11% of the construction workforce, according to the most recent data from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). And in an effort to make the industry a more inclusive space for women, NAHB kicked off its annual Professional Women in Building Week. Taking place from Sept. 14 to 18, the week celebrates women in the industry through a series of content, social media shout-outs, helpful resources, and efforts to train and advance more women in the industry.

Each day of the week will celebrate women in a new way. Monday kicks the week off with advice on how to support the next generation of women in residential construction, followed by several shop talks and blog posts before wrapping with a PWB social media takeover.

Wednesday, Sept. 16 – By the Numbers: Women in Building

NAHB economist Na Zhao takes a deeper look at women’s growing presence in the industry.

Thursday, Sept. 17 – The Importance of Diversifying the Industry

Join our Shop Talk, Radical Kindness: A Leadership Strategy for Building High-Performing Teams, at 1 p.m. ET. Heather Teskey, VP of Marketing at Andersen Windows, will share how radical kindness has shaped her leadership journey, from making tough decisions and navigating difficult conversations to building a people-first culture. Discover practical ways to lead with empathy while maintaining accountability, high standards and a focus on results, even when challenges arise or leaders fall short.

Friday, Sept. 18 – Shout Out PWB on Social Media
