New York State officials have ordered all eviction proceedings in the state to stop indefinitely amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Tenant advocates and elected officials say that evictions would increase homelessness, worsening the spread of the disease.
A coalition of 29 landlords in the state pledged not to execute eviction warrants for 90 days. The court system had issued a one-week moratorium in New York City, which lead to the landlord-guarantee.
