Midwestern and Northeastern metros dominated Realtor.com’s April list of hot housing markets.
Six Midwestern markets and five Northeastern markets made it into the top 20, which ranks cities based on “how fast homes are selling in each metro and how many views that metro's listings receive,” Realtor.com says. The Boston housing market topped the list, in part because its suburbs are less constrained than those in California cities such as San Francisco. California saw five cities in the top 20, a significant decrease from previous months.
Lafayette, Ind., ranked second and Spokane, Wash., ranked third. It was the first time either city made the top three in Realtor.com’s rankings. Other notable inclusions were Columbus, Ohio (fourth), Rochester, N.Y. (seventh), and Worcester, Mass. (tenth).
