The Alder is one of five homes in the village with Icynene spray-foam insulation. Photo: Green Builders The Alder model has a long list of energy-efficient features, including recycled lumber and recycled carpet, in every home in the Georgetown Village community. Green Builders' selling point is the Icynene spray-foam insulation. According to the company, random air leaks in insulation or gaps around fixtures and hard-to-insulate areas account for up to 40 percent of energy loss. Green Builders used the spray-foam insulation because of its ability to seal a home and create a thermal envelope. Plus, it contains no ozone-depleting substances and does not off-gas over time. An added bonus: it's affordable and works within the community, whose homes start at $190,000.

This particular model has 1,810 square feet of living space with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is a detached two-car garage with a studio as well. This model starts at $238,990.
