The next generation of energy-efficient water heaters from A.O. Smith’s Voltex Hybrid Electric Heat Pump line will save consumers $437 a year or more compared with standard electric water heaters, the company says. The 50-, 66-, and 80-gallon units are Energy Star-qualified, dual-voltage (capable at both 208 and 240 VAC), and quiet, operating at just 51 dBA. The 50-gallon unit has an energy factor of 3.24 and a first-hour rating of 70; the 66-gallon: 3.17 and 80, respectively; and the 80-gallon: 3.06 and 95.
