Remodeling projects took off during the pandemic as quarantine restrictions and work-from-home orders pushed more Americans indoors, and many homeowners are adding new renovations to their wishlists in 2022. Better outfitted mudrooms can add functionality to the home entrance with storage for coats and shoes as well as pet wash rooms and a laundry area to keep messes from entering the main living spaces.

Outdoor living is also becoming a priority for homeowners post-pandemic with reimagined designs for outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and gardens to create a backyard oasis with additional living space.

The trend of home owners wanting to feel as though they’re outdoors even when they can’t be is expected to continue as nature is considered a boon to wellness.

Be ready to change out windows and doors, and sometimes an entire wall to fit larger glass options. Some like garage-style glass doors that roll up for an edgier look, designers say.

Another pandemic lesson was the importance of having a place for adults to conduct office work and children to do homework.
