Homeowners are upgrading their office spaces to accommodate work from home, and these tips from Housing Design Matters can help

More professionals are working virtually than in the office post-pandemic, and as remote work extends into home life, Housing Design Matters says that it may be time to consider a few key design upgrades to revamp home offices. Creating acoustically private workspaces can reduce background noise in the house, a major pro for homeowners with children or pets.

Dual work from home spaces can also be beneficial for couples conducting business remotely, and pocket offices can still offer privacy even in shared work areas.

Matt Riley, of New Home Inc. in Raleigh, NC, has an awesome work from home space. It is common in this market to have third floor finished rooms. This is where he does his work, which gives him great acoustical privacy but also sets him above the commotion of his household. Like going to work but without getting in his car. The key to creating a third floor walk-up space is placing the stairs so that they land in the middle of the third floor.
