Fibo Systems has expanded their waterproof decorative wall-panel systems for residential and commercial kitchen and bath projects to include new styles including a marble-inspired design.
Eco-friendly, durable, and cost-effective, the Fibo waterproof wall-paneling system is water and mildew resistant, protecting kitchens and bathrooms from moisture-related problems. The Norwegian company says that the system’s Aqualock click system simplifies the installation process and minimizes joint lines. Builders and renovators can use the panels for kitchen backsplashes, traditional bathrooms, and even wet rooms.

“We’re thrilled to showcase our Fibo waterproof wall panel system applications to the U.S. market at the 2020 International Builders’ Show,” Anders Carlson, CEO of Fibo Group, says. “The Fibo waterproof wall paneling system is a durable, low maintenance alternative to kitchen backsplashes, shower enclosures and wet room wall coverings for both residential and commercial buildings. Since 1952, we’ve led the European market with our innovative designs, and now we’re expanding distribution in the U.S. where demand for cost-effective and durable wet room wall panel applications is increasing.”
Because the Fibo waterproof wall-panel system does not require a water-vapor barrier or waterproof membrane, the system can help builders save time and money by reducing labor and material costs. The panels can be directly mounted onto wood or steel studs, and builders can retrofit them over existing walls or ceramic tiles. Fibo offers many different trims, sealants, screws, cleaner wipes, and more that are compatible with the wall panels.

“When speed and quality matters, Fibo waterproof wall panels are perfect for either remodeling or new construction projects,” Carlson says. “The system, when installed correctly, makes the wall panels 100% waterproof and minimizes the joints for a seamless look.”
The standard tile measures 23.62-inches-by-15.74-inches and features a laminate surface that the company says can withstand direct water exposure and large temperature fluctuations. If it is installed and maintained correctly, the company offers a 15-year warranty. The system uses a high-pressure laminate as its functioning membrane, a reinforced vapour barrier backing, and a seven-layer, WBP birch plywood interior for a durable, long-lasting product.

“We have installations in Scandinavia that are 40 years old and technically just as good, but with very old-fashion designs. We offer a 15 year warranty, and more than 100,000 bathrooms are yearly equipped with our panels,” Per Jatog, the overseas sales director for the company, says. “In 2015, we installed totally new highly automated machinery and [now have] the capacity to 'take on the American market'.”
Fibo also introduced new finishes and styles, including:
- Marble-design panels were added to the Marcato wall-panel collection, featuring black, white, golden-brown, and silver-gray marble colors. These are available without grout lines.
- The New Kitchen Boards collection debuted for backsplashes in steel, copper, and gold colors.
- Three new colors were added to the Color Collection: grey sand, dusty blue, and olive green. Grey sand is available without grout lines, and dusty blue and olive green can come with a 0.07-inch grout line or without one.
