Other commonly used exterior wall materials included vinyl siding (24%), fiber cement siding, including Hardiplank or Hardiboard (23%), and brick or brick veneer (19%), Eye on Housing reports.

Just 4% of homes started in 2021 had wood or wood products as the principal exterior wall material, while 1% included stone or rock siding as the primary exterior material.
