With seven joist manufacturing plants and more than 70 distribution centers located strategically across North America, Trus Joist, a Weyerhaeuser business, strives to make specifying, purchasing and installing Silent Floor joists a hassle-free experience. Silent Floor joists are not limited by the dimensions or inconsistencies of ordinary sawn lumber. Natural defects are engineered out; dimensional stability is manufactured in. Longer, uninterrupted spans with joists that won't bow, twist or shrink give builders more design options. TJI joists weigh about half that of ordinary lumber joists, so they are easier to handle and install in less time than traditional wood joists. The product comes with a lifetime guarantee. Circle

In My Own Words

"We use TJI Floor Joists for our framing, and we're very loyal to this product. Because it is a man-made, engineered product, it is straight and true: no cups, crowns or dips. It gives you a consistent floor that is very strong, with very little deflection and no squeaking. We never have to go back to it — when we've built it, we're done.

These joists are also lighter and therefore easier for the carpenter to work with. For us, the alternative would be dimensional lumber: 2×10s or 2×12s, but TJI Floor Joists are far superior. You don't want to have dips or crowns in your floors."
