The NAHB’s most recent analysis of Census data found that townhouse construction totaled 72,000, a slight uptick from 68,000 in 2013.
The market share of townhouses is now 12 percent of all single-family starts, the highest share since the end of 2012.
“Despite the drop in market share during the Great Recession, the share of townhouse construction is expected to increase in coming years,” the NAHB says.
