This year's New American Home—the 38th annual idea home built in the host city of the International Builders’ Show—is a two-level, three-bedroom home that offers a more modest model for the industry, without sacrificing style or livability, delivering well-appointed spaces that meet the needs of today’s homeowner. To reach a broad audience, “we emphasized the flexibility of the spaces, since we know everyone lives differently,” says Serena Hahn, CEO of Envy Homes, the home's builder.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Ed Binkley, Design Director, BSB Design-Tampa
Ed has been instrumental in responsive housing design since 1985, with a focus on designing single-family and multifamily homes that live easy and are smart. He also focuses on how buildings come together, how spaces between buildings are addressed, and ways to create “community” within every project. Ed’s experience includes work with national and international green housing programs and the design of several demonstration homes that highlight effective design principles. He was the design architect for The New American Home in 2005, 2007, and 2022, as well as the 2011 Green Builder Vision House, in Orlando, Fla., and is a frequent national speaker and contributing editor to national publications in areas of housing.
Serena Hahn, CEO, Envy Homes
Serena is the CEO of Envy Homes, with 18 years of purchasing, operations, and construction experience. With a background in system management and an eye for detail, Serena uses her skills to assist in managing the build process starting from design all the way through to homeowners moving in. Her experience combines knowledge of production homes with the attention to detail and complexity of custom builds.
Alyssa Johansen, Creative Director, Builders Design
Alyssa is the creative director at Builders Design, a nationally recognized design firm focused on model home and multifamily design. She has produced work for some of the top home builders and developers in the country, and, in her current role as the interior designer of The New American Home 2022, she brings her vision and experience to the Builders Design team to achieve design excellence.
