Technology reporter Geoffrey Fowler reviews Box, a malware defense gadget that protects the hyper-connected smart home.

Fowler says Box, developed by Bitdefender, is a good start to protecting a smart home from digital viruses because it works directly with the router, eliminating the need to install every device and software with its own anti-virus.

But Fowler found that the gadget slowed down his internet service. His verdict: the product has the right idea about smart-home security, but it still needs work.
