During the peak of the Space Race between the U.S. and U.S.S.R., Finnish architect Matti Suuronen designed a prefabricated UFO home that can adapt to many terrains.
Circular and standing on stilts, the homes were a vision of what future life would be like. When the price of oil – and then plastic – increased in the 1970s, the prefabricated homes’ manufacturing was put to a halt. Only 100 were made, 60 of which still stand today.
