The Value of Process

Nov. 2, 2014

Process, well love it or hate it we NEED IT! It may not be exciting creating it, setting it up, but process is so very important. I thought the following quote from Tom Peters put it perfectly, especially for our industry.

“I hate to ever defend lines and boxes. But I also don’t believe that hierarchy is dead. I flew 40 hours with Emirates Airline last week, and I want to think there were charts and boxes in the Emirates Airline operation, particularly in the Mechanics Department. I said to somebody while I was there, I’m trained as a civil engineer. I want to drive across a bridge where there was a project manager whose alternate name was ‘son of a bitch’.”

(Tom Peters, McKinsey Quarterly, Sep 2014)
