It’s not the best time to be a builder, according to a 24/7 Wall St. list. Construction-related gigs have been on the decline over the last decade.
The jobs most on the downswing are carpenter assistants. Jobs for gofers — the people who gather tools, clean the work area, and perform other grunt work tasks — have decreased 61 percent in America since 2005, from 102,000 spots that year to 38,900 this year.
The second spot on the list belonged to brickmason helpers. That sector has seen jobs decline 59 percent. Plasterers and stucco masons (No. 3) have seen a 56 percent decrease in available jobs and brickmasons (No. 6) are down 48 percent.
