New Study Finds 10 Tax-Friendliest States for Retirees

The Last Frontier beats the Sunshine State in terms of tax-friendliness for those in retirement

The image of Florida as a dream destination for retirees may persist, but a new study found that, when it comes to taxes, Alaska is number one.

Data compiled by Kiplinger compared taxes for retirees across all 50 states. “What many people don’t realize is that where you retire can be just as important -- or, in some ways, even more important -- than what you have when you retire,” said Sandra Block, senior associate editor at Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

Other states that made the list are Louisiana, Georgia, South Dakota, and Nevada.
