In the study Dodge conducted in 2015, 21 percent of home builders reported that they had built at least one net zero home, and in just two years, by 2017, 29 percent now report having done so. By 2019, 44 percent of home builders expect to build a net zero home, demonstrating the expectation that this is a growing segment of the residential market, if still a small one at this point.
