5 Ways the Housing Industry Gave Back in 2025
In many ways, 2025 was a challenging year for the housing industry, but as builders navigated difficult market conditions, they still made time to give back.
From large donations that helped advance trades careers to collaborations that brought forth better building practices, we’re taking a look back at times housing industry pros were able to make their communities a little better this year.
Creating Housing For Veterans
In hopes of creating more supportive housing for veterans in Minnesota, GF Building Flow Solutions, Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), Housing First Minnesota Foundation, and Lennar partnered to create Veteran Village. The 22-unit housing community in Eagan, Minn., will house 36 veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Read the full story.
A Home For a Family in Need
Alabama-based Stone Martin Builders partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Autauga and Chilton Counties to give back to the local community, helping construct a new four-bedroom home for a family in need in Clanton, Ala. Read the full story.
Investing in the Trades
In an effort to raise awareness for careers in the trades, The Home Depot Foundation committed $10 million to expand access to training and educational opportunities in the skilled trades field. Part of the investment includes a $1 million partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) that will help fund a two-year pilot program aimed at exposing more than 1,000 children and teens across Atlanta, Phoenix, and Houston to careers in carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, and plumbing. Building a Geothermal Community
Volunteers from across the globe came together in Austin, Texas, earlier this year to take part in Habitat for Humanity’s 2025 Rosalyn Carter Work Project. This year's event had Volunteers help with the construction of the city’s first geothermal community. Read the full story.
A Week of Service
The Mungo Homes Foundation, the charitable arm of South Carolina-based home builder Mungo Homes, took part in its fourth annual Week of Service this May.
