Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town in Japan is a test bed of sustainable technologies. Developed by Panasonic, the city has solar panel-covered homes, ride-sharing services, LED lighting, and batteries to store energy. A Car Life Lab is planned for test driving electric cars. There’s also land set aside for future development and testing of new technologies. A long list of companies in high tech, banking, utilities, real estate, and design firms are taking part in the project, which aims to produce all the electricity it needs locally.
