Helena, Mont.’s ban on wood roofing overturned by state court

Ruling gives sole authority on building codes to state Department of Labor and Industry

The city of Helena, Montana’s ban on wood roofing material aimed at reducing fire danger was overturned by the Montana Supreme Court. The court said the prohibition on wooden roofing material was a building code and that only the state Department of Labor and Industry has the authority to create building codes.
