Decatur, Ga., approves development ordinances that boost energy efficiency
New residences must be built to one of three recognized green standards.

The Decatur City Commission approved building ordinances that raise energy efficiency standards for new buildings and on substantial improvement of residential buildings. Residences, including single-family homes, must either reach Silver certification of the National Green Building Standard, or any level of LEED for Homes, or any level of the EarthCraft House or EarthCraft Sustainable Preservation program.
