Utah Legislators Propose Retiring Solar Tax Credit

Some Utah lawmakers say it’s time to take the ‘training wheels’ off the state’s booming solar industry by retiring a popular tax credit. Recent adopters of PVs say it is possible for solar power to offset annual power bills, and with state and federal tax credits to get the government to refund almost half the cost. A legislative committee has recommended phasing out a state tax credit for residential solar installations. This credit is projected to cost the state $20 million in 2016, up from less than $1 million annually.
