Solar Power Batteries For Homes Gaining Market Traction

Homeowners are beginning to adopt solar power batteries to use in conjunction with rooftop PVs. In addition to storing power for use at night, the batteries also provide a back-up power source in the event of blackouts.

Home storage system capacity varies in complexity and price. Battery units range from 2 kilowatt hours to nearly 20 kilowatt hours. A typical home uses 30 kilowatt hours of electricity per day. Residential storage costs between $1,300 and $2,000 per kilowatt hour or about $8,300 to $12,800 for a 6.4 kilowatt hour system.
