Critics Charge New St. Louis County Building Code Is Too Light On Efficiency

Builders say the code will help make homes more affordable

The St. Louis County Building Commission recently approved a new home building code that has drawn mixed reviews. Critics say the code isn’t strong enough on energy efficiency, but builders say the code will help make homes more affordable. The commission amended portions of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code that were proposed by the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri.
